Fast Food

Fast food has been a part of my life ever since I was a little girl. It was a part of my childhood but it was not the only type of food I ate. My mother used to cook food that was fairly healthy. She incorporated fruits and vegetables into our meals because she wanted to minimize our intake of fatty foods. Fast food was considered a treat for my family when I was younger. We used to get it when we behaved well or for a special occasion. My parents used to take me to McDonalds to get me a happy meal because it was a small meal that came with a tiny toy inside. It was a smaller portion of food made for children to enjoy. I have wonderful memories associated with getting that meal.

Currently, my fast food habits have changed since my childhood. Now that I am older, I rely on fast food more than I did in my childhood. At the present time, I eat fast food about once a week. I usually eat it on Sundays because that is the day I spend time with my family. I have acquired a habit of eating fast food at least once a week. It is a horrible habit to have because that type of food is not the healthy type. I usually get it during the week only when I do not have time to make a home cooked meal. The home cooked meals tend to be healthier than the food they sell at the fast food restaurants. The time factor is what makes me want to get fast food because I usually do not have time to cook a better meal at home because I have other obligations to fulfill. The good thing about fast food is that it is a faster way to get food for people who have busy schedules and do not have time to cook for themselves.

At present, I currently eat from different types of fast food restaurants. It is hard to escape the temptation that fast food produces because there are fast food places everywhere I look. I am trying to eat healthier now even if it comes from a fast food restaurant. I go online and research the nutritional facts on the items that they sell at places like McDonalds, Burger King and Wendy’s. Researching the nutritional content that the food contains has helped to change my eating habits. I now cut down the size of food I buy from hamburger and pizza places. It feels better when I minimize the portion size because I feel like it is a healthier way to eat fast food. It is an improvement from the way I used to eat fast food in junior high and high school. I used to get more fast food then because there was a fast food restaurant close to both of the schools. Due to the information I obtained online and learning of how dangerous habitual fast food intake is I am making better choices in my fast food selection.

Past...Present...Future

Hello, my name is Leticia Arciga. When I look back in my life I notice that I have always been shy. When I think back I have always been the nice quiet girl in the class that blends and gets lost in the background. In high school I was only confortable around my friends. I rarely spoke to anyone I didn't know. The only way I could talk to a classmate was if they talked to me first. It was a somewhat tough time for me but I was glad that I had my own friends to rely on.
Currently, I am starting my second year at Oxnard College. I am a full time student and I am loving the college atmosphere. I am less shy now and interact with my classmates. I think that my love of music helped me with my shyness. I could talk about music all day. I am a huge fan of music from every decade and all genres starting with the 1950's. I love classic pop and classic rock from the 1950's and 1960's. My favorite decade is the 1960's because my favorite band of all time is The Beatles. I am one of the biggest Beatles fan around.
In the future, I hope to transfer to California State University of Channel Islands. I want to major in biology at the University. I have always loved science and find that biology is a great subject. If that doesn't work then I would like to learn about history because for some reason I like history. But whatever the future has in store for me I hope that I end up having a career that I enjoy.
